Village Issues

Council: Awaiting response on outstanding issues.

Proposed changes to junction of Stoney Lane and Springwell Road: Following objections by 38 residents the Council is now not going to change to T junction but will review signage and road markings next year

  • Police: At the moment it is likely PC Noble can attend residents meeting next year but possible that this may change due to restructuring in police.asb – 4 incidents including complaints about youths and intruders at Thompsons Crime: 5 wheelie bin thefts. 2 burglaries at Thompsons. Minor damage at Guide Post. 2 thefts from telephone kiosk.
  • Attempted burglary at Sycamore Grove at 3pm – damage of £700 caused
  • Thompsons: in response to complaint from resident – Road can be swept on Saturday.Have replied to invitation to attend meetings – since no plans have yet been submitted to the Planning Authority Thompson’s feel there would be no benefit in attending at the moment. They are “fully committed to working with the small group of residents to discuss on going operations and find it extremely useful”
  • Thompsons repairing curb and will ensure disabled access will be provided. Also repairing pothole in road.
  • Greenbelt:
  • High Usworth Farm: Application for five houses with access between the back gardens of Heugh Hill on the west and Highbury Avenue on the East. Considered site is in the greenbelt although applicant claims it will be brownfield once buildings are demolished. Access to the site is very poor wide enough for only for one vehicle. Audience urged to make comments to the Council to add to the 20 currently on the website.
  • Planning Applications: Outline permission for two houses at Warren Lea – application not validated but two objections have been received by the Council
  • Local Plan: Sunderland Council has received 440 letters objecting to amendments to greenbelt boundaries.
  • Eighton Banks: Gateshead Council has received 171 letters objecting to amendments to greenbelt boundaries.
  • AOB – complaints about litter to be referred to Council
  • Date of next meeting – 2 February 2016
