Approx 100 members of the public attended the meeting
- The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed
- The Annual Report was accepted with clarification that the £1k donation from Sunderland Council’s Community Chest will be entered into the 2015-16 accounts.
- The following amendment to the constitution was agreed:
Committee members must declare an interest where their duty to the SVRA competes with a duty or loyalty they have to another organisation or person. Where a member is found to have an undeclared conflict of interest, the Committee can vote to remove that Member by a simple majority. If the removed Member wishes to appeal, they must do so in writing to the Secretary stating their reasons within 14 days. The appeal will be heard at the next full meeting of the SVRA.
- The Committee stood down – Counc Trueman took over the Chair. Angela Templeman was reelected as Chair and the Committee elected en masse following a proposal from the floor. Michele Johnson and Emma Gatens were elected to join the committee. No other nominations were made.
- In the interests of managing time, it was agreed that members addressing meetings confine speaking to a max of 3mins.
- Thompsons: Following clarification of misunderstandings about who was part of the working group, and discussion on their “qualifications” it was agreed that the existing working party engage with Thompsons.
- Update:
Council has received complaints about banners and therefore has had to have them removed from Council owned land and buildings. SVRA to seek policies to back up decision.
100 signboards have been sold. Orders for others should be submitted by 10 June by putting names on list in the Village Hall or via Facebook.
Following SVRA contact English Heritage is now in touch with Council re existing and proposed housing developments
Relationships with Bowes Railway are progressing well
Evening Chronicle running story – photoshoot tomorrow at 9.30am Mount Lane
- It was agreed that the Committee can now communicate with developers

Wheels have been stolen from vans in the Mount Lonnen area
Resident complained about removal of trees around Village Hall
Trees are overgrowing the road north of the railway
Trees are overgrowing back garden of Springfield Terrace
SVRA to take up matters with Council
