Minutes of Meeting with Thompsons of Prudhoe
Date: 2 February 2024
Venue: Springwell Quarry

Present:

1. Noise monitoring of site – this is done by QEM Systems, an independent contractor, on a monthly basis and at times when the crusher and screens are in operation and was last carried out on Tuesday 30 January 2024.

2. Springwell Road is cleaned 6 times per day by Go Plant, an independent contractor.

3. Ross Orchard is in contact with Sunderland Council re fixing potholes deeper than 40ml.

4. Traffic disruption on Springwell Road expected in coming week due to installation of an electricity sub station – traffic lights will be in operation

5. Thompsons has cut hedgerow back on Springwell Road, from Quarry site to footpath leading to Eighton Banks

6. NWL reservoir works – 140,000 tonnes of sandstone has been taken from this site to Thompsons, 100,000 tonnes of which will be returned to NWL contractors MMB. In addition, Thompsons is holding 5,000 tonnes of top soil which will eventually be returned to the reservoir site.

7. SVRA suggested Thompsons keep residents informed of latest/current issues by distributing leaflets/info sheets to neighbouring streets and that SVRA could then share on Facebook. Ross agreed to discuss this with Thompsons’ management

8. Thompsons’ planning application for the construction of a bund to help protect neighbouring properties from noise and dust is still ongoing – Council yet to make a decision.
