1/ Liz talked about planning application for new washing plant and what permissions were
needed and what was going to change in the quarry itself.

2/ Ross Orchard confirmed that the washing plant was being built on the north east extremity
of the site, taking it as far away from the houses as possible. The plant will be run by
electricity, making it less noisy than mechanical motors.

3/ It was mentioned about concerns for the noise from the new plant and noise in general for
the village from a resident who lives in Railway Terrace. Keith and Garry to try and contact
him to discuss his concerns.

4/ Talked about the large shed in the middle of the site being stripped, completely enclosed
and clad with new 60mm cladding to help with the noise suppression.

5/ Talked about the ground of the enclosed shed and all surrounding roads will be concreted
to help with dust suppression and to make the lorries less noisy whilst travelling around the
site.

6/ The buildings that were due for demolition as per the planning application have been taken
down.

7/ Ross told us that Thompson’s were spending 8 million pounds on the site to make things
better for the village, going above what needed to be done as per the planning approvals and
environmental agency.

8/ The 2.5 metre bund has been agreed to go ahead along the southern border of the site to
help with noise suppression and will be seeded and allowed to grow wild to look natural with
the surroundings.

9/ Garry raised concerns about the piles of rubble showing above the tree line in the north and
west. Ross assured us that this was being taken down to a lower level.

10/ Garry raised concerns about the state of the footpath from the quarry up to Wrekenton.
Ross was arranging for this to be cleaned that day and to be done on a regular basis.

11/ Thompsons’ were asked about helping the primary school in the village with money
towards a cabin for extra help for some children with reading. They said they may be able to
supply a site cabin and would take it up with their bosses.

12/ Liz and Pauline left the meeting and Ross took Garry, Keith and Allison around the site
and pointed out everything that has and was going to happen.
