1. The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.

2. The Annual Report and Financial Statement were accepted. An update was given on Beech Grove flooding, which also affects other parts of the village- work to resolve situation expected to commence next February. Residents were thanked for their support in attending meetings, signing letters, generally getting involved and caring about their village.

3. The Committee stood down – Cllr Trueman took over the Chair. Chair, Vice Chair and the Committee elected en bloc following a proposal from Cllr Trueman. It was announced that Emma Gatens had resigned from the committee due to family commitments and there were now two vacancies. Steve Thomas and Christine Brown volunteered and were duly elected to join the committee. No objections or other nominations were made.
Both Emma Gatens and Emma Hardy, whose resignation was announced in March, were thanked for the work they did whilst on the Committee.

4. PC Vicki Noble gave an update on incidents in the village for the period 8 March-10 May. This involved 8 crimes and 11 incidents of antisocial behaviour involving youths. Residents were encouraged to report incidents through appropriate channels.

5. Bowes Railway: Alex and Amanda of NE Communities Business Centre advised residents of ongoing work with Bowes Railway. Alongside maintaining and protecting the railway as an Ancient Scheduled Monument it is hoped to develop the site as a visitor attraction, details of events, courses and opening times were given. Bowes also want to build relationships with the local community and welcome volunteers, who will be given training in safety and new skills. Cllr Scaplehorn advised that community group Keep Washington Tidy may be able to assist.

6. Seldom Seen: raised beds cleared by Council, appeal made for volunteers to help with replanting and maintenance. Council has provided funding for new seat, to be installed soon.

7. Volunteers: appeal made for volunteers to help with deliveries, keep in contact with neighbours in order to spread information and keep committee informed of issues that come up.

8. Greenbelt: Criminal damage to signboards was reported. Application to build 2 houses on greenbelt land at Warren Lea received 394 objections, decision imminent. Application for garage conversion to house and additional garage on greenbelt land at Havannah Farm was refused.

9. Local Plan: expected that Council will consult soon on growth options. Residents were advised on importance of responding as this will govern development for next 20 years. SVRA is not against growth and supports job creation but will oppose development on greenbelt land in and around the village. Committee is looking at proposals in detail and is being assisted by 2 experts, as well as talking to Council planners and hope to advise residents further at next RA meeting. Cllrs Trueman and Scaplehorn were thanked for their advice and ongoing support.

10. AOB: Brown garden waste bins that have been registered with the Council are listed and only those ones will be emptied. Cllr Scaplehorn to follow up on a complaint re road condition in Stoney lane as a result of an ice cream van fire.

11. Date of next meeting: 7 June 2016 at 7pm
